Chrysler History

The Chrysler Corporation was founded in 1925 by Walter Chrysler. It is now called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and will soon be renamed again in 2021. Walter Chrysler used the General Motors brand diversification and hierarchy strategy he saw working for Buick. He acquired Fargo Trucks and Dodge Brothers, and created the Plymouth and DeSoto brands in 1928, but then borrowed $250 million in 1954 from Prudential Insurance to pay for expansion and updated car designs. He then expanded into Europe by taking control of French, British and Spanish auto companies in the 1960s. New CEO Lee Iacocca was credited with returning the company to profitability in the 1980s. Then in 1985, Diamond-Star Motors was created, further expanding the Chrysler-Mitsubishi relationship. In 1987, Chrysler acquired American Motors Corporation (AMC). Then in 1998, Chrysler merged with German automaker Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler AG, but then Chrysler was sold to Cerberus Capital Management and renamed Chrysler LLC in 2007. Therefore, the Chrysler Corporation has undergone a wealth of business mergers and financial ups and downs, but somehow managed to stay afloat. They have recently been bought, however, and it is not known if there will be any more vehicles produced under the Chrysler name. Their ratings have been steadily decreasing since the late '90s, but if you're a Chrysler fan still, there are many great models to choose from. Let's move on to discuss some of these.

Great Used Models Of Chrysler Vehicles

The really great thing about buying a used Chrysler is that you can afford a much more premium or luxury vehicle than you may have even been able to think about before. Chrysler does have a proud history of producing excellent vehicles. So let's start with the 2012-2014 Chrysler 300 SRT-8, or even just the 300. But the SRT-8 is the top-of-the-line performance version of the classic 300, modified for power and handling. A luxury car that uniquely offers a mixture of raw power, sports car-like handling, and a luxurious, high-quality interior. It has a 392 HEMI V8, with 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, putting it in a league all it's own. More than a muscle car or a sports car, and more than a luxury car. They're a bit difficult to find on the open market, but extremely well worth it. Be sure to let us know before you have to have this car, and give us plenty of room in which to find you one. Next is the 2011-2014 Chrysler 200 Convertible. Now discontinued, this great car is an amazing combination of luxury and power. Made for comfort instead of style, this convertible is for you if you want a smooth, comfortable ride in the beauty and power of a sports car. As we move forward, if you're looking for a minivan there is the 2011-2014 Chrysler Town & Country, truly a gorgeous luxury vehicle. Although not the cheapest or the most fuel efficient, its capabilities, reliability, luxury comfort, and features separate it from other popular minivans. For a used minivan with style and plenty of amenities at an affordable price, the Chrysler Town and Country minivan is a great choice. Last but not least on our list is the 2008-2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser, a great choice any year, really, this unique design is truly a fantastic used car. There are many different models of these, including a convertible and a turbocharged, performance focused GT. The PT Cruiser has a loyal group of followers, and for good reason. So if you're looking for a used Chrysler, Colorado Springs uses Auto 1 for their car buying needs.
